Before install vmware-tools
create xorg.conf

vi /etc/X11.xorg.conf

Section "Monitor"
Identifier "vmware"
EndSection

:wq < --- to save and exit from vi text editor ...

and then

System-settings --> goto advanced tab --> Autostart --> Add program: here add /usr/bin/vmware-user.
